We have an opening for Associate Director (Retail Designer)


A Company has joint venture that’s designed to give integrated design solutions for retail design, retail architecture and campaigns across media. Our years of experience through various disciplines give us the accuracy of architectural practice and originality of an advertising agency, brought together by the efficiency of a design studio.


1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

2. POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director should be capable of generating innovative, logical built and non-built form
concept designs, focusing on fine details and delivering on consumer’s expectations. He/she will retain
responsibility for all projects whilst sharing knowledge; coaching, developing and motivating all design
team members. The Associate Director influences the design direction of the team’s work. He/she will
produce and coordinate for completion of all documents of retail commercial/interiors projects.

4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic & Creative thinking
• Lead the team’s creative thinking, generate, and develop concepts that provide an original,
appropriate and effective solution to the creative brief
• Develop own thinking through liaison with Studio Director
• Win the confidence of the client and the team to ensure that ‘big ideas’ are executed with
design excellence
Creative Delivery
• Lead complex 3D design presentations meetings; simplifying the ideas to make them
appropriate;
• Articulate an idea to both an internal and external audience
• Ensure that design work and concept ideas on all projects are of a consistently accurate and high standard
• Responsible for producing a complete set of design development documents across a variety of retail and commercial projects in the studio at a high level
• Consistently deliver and make project deadlines on, or ahead of the scheduled delivery date and within budget
• Acts as first point of contact for clients, MEP consultant to ensure successful coordination of projects and any required corrections.


5. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Level of Education Bachelor degree (5 years) in Architecture/ Interior Design
Experience Minimum 10 years’ experience within a retail design environment

6. COMPETENCIES
Functional
• Ability to create and manage schedules and deadlines in Excel, MS Project, or similar
• Expert knowledge of REVIT and AutoCAD software programs. Should have an experience in setting up and working in managed office BIM and CAD standards
• Knowledge of MEP systems and ability to communicate with Clients and Engineers as required
• Knowledge of coordinating consultants and adhering to standard AIA construction documentation practices.
• Experience managing and developing Bill of Quantities, specifications, material schedules.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Planning and Scoping
• Plan, organize and scope projects of all sizes; delegate effectively to deliver on time and on budget
• Pro-actively plan up to 4 weeks ahead; working closely with and supported by the Studio
Director for your team and across the studio
• Actively involved in project fee scope and time forecast analysis for relevant projects
• Schedule and communicate all costs and specifications internally and externally
• To update time sheets on daily basis
Client Communication & Presentation
• Playing a lead role in new business pitches, including developing responses to briefs and pitching
• Be a point of contact on major client projects and oversee/monitor smaller projects
• Demonstrate the ability to make impactful and effective presentations
Team Management
• Work with project teams to ensure that the creative quality and delivery of the project is
consistently high
• Directs team of junior designers and technicians in the completion of design development documents to ensure deadlines are met on time and within budget while coordinating project knowledge to ensure client goals are met.
